Anju tribute rice is a kind of rare grain cultivated by Anju people for nearly a thousand years. It is a rich source of iron, starch and vegetable protein, and has the effect of strengthening the blood and preventing anemia.

It was originally known as “red rice”, and there is a magical story about the change of its name: During the Jingnan Campaign, Zhu Yunwen was defeated and escaped from Nanjing secretly. He went straight to Chongqing through Yangtze River, and fled to Anju. In the six months when he lived in seclusion in Anju, he led a peaceful and tranquil life, standing aloof from worldly strife. What made Zhu Yunwen feel most comfortable was that he could have a bowl of tasty “red rice porridge” every meal. But as the saying goes, “all walls have ears”, the news of Zhu's hiding place spread rapidly. In order to avoid Zhu Di's pursuit, Zhu Yunwen had to hide elsewhere. Before leaving, he took a bag of local “red rice” with him and said with emotion, “Everything in the world can be left behind, but red rice is unique in my heart.” Later, in memory of the emperor, the locals changed the name of “red rice” to “tribute rice”.
