Located at the top of the Hualong Mountain, the Confucius Temple was built in the middle period of Emperor Chenghua’s reign in the Ming Dynasty, and was repaired in the 10th year of Emperor Hongzhi’s reign. After the turmoil caused by war in late Ming Dynasty, only Dacheng Hall remained. In the 26th year of Emperor Qianlong’s reign in the Qing Dynasty, the Magistrate Cai Yuhua led gentries to build a shrine of sage (where sacrifices were offered to Confucius and his ancestors) as well as west and east corridors and halberd gates. In the 23rd year of Emperor Jiaqing’s reign, Zhou Qibiao, a student of the Imperial Academy, donated to set up sacrificial fields and collected 40 dan of rent rice for the spring and autumn sacrifice. In the 5th year of Emperor Daoguang’s reign, literati and plebs repaired palace walls and rebuilt the Lingxing Gate. In the 24th year, the Magistrate Yu Suisheng, led gentries to repair the temple as it collapsed, but then discontinued the project as no continuous fund was raised. In the 8th year of Emperor Tongzhi’s reign, the Magistrate Yu Teng and Instructor Yi Quanfei, supervised the construction of the large hall, five rooms for each of the left and right corridors, three rooms for the halberd gate, a shrine of sage, as well as rooms for dressing, and food preparation, sacrificial wares, warehousing, etc. Outside the halberd gate, there are four ancestral halls for sages, eminent officials, loyalty and filial piety, temple walls of the Lingxing Gate and so on.
